Potty Training Update
Okay... so the potty training has been fairly non-existent lately. After Caleb's last round of interest in the potty he brought me a diaper and said "No potty, Momma, I want diaper." He's still young, so I haven't pressed the matter.
This morning when I got out of the shower Caleb was yelling for me from the living room. I went in there to find this:
Notice how he's collected his undies and placed them strategically around the potty. Also notice the discarded diaper among them. Yup... he was naked, and proud of it. :-)So far we still haven't had any real successes with the potty, but if he wants to try I'm not going to stop him. We'll just see where it leads.

Creative Outlet
Caleb's current favorite show is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We were in the fabric section a few days ago, and when he saw the Mickey material he wanted it. I remembered this pillowcase tutorial, so I brought some home.
Ta Daa! How cute is this pillow case? I know you can't really see it in the picture, but the red fabric has a Mickey Mouse head print on it. I've also learned how to make fitted sheets for his bed, so I'm just waiting to find the right fabric. I want the print to match his room.

This is just a little something I made during nap today. It's a diaper and wipes case. I like to use these when I'm using my bigger purses and bags as diaper bags. That way all you have to grab is this one pouch to change a diaper.

Handy little things.

So Far This Morning, Caleb has....
* gone down the slide repeatedly... while demanding I say "wee" every time.
* gotten quite muddy.
* watched the cement trucks working across the street through the telescope on his crow's nest.
* played with sidewalk chalk, correctly identifying a circle, square, diamond, rectangle, triangle, and C, A, L, E, and B. He told me it said Caleb, but he says that about everything so it's nothing to jump around about.
* played computer games.
* gone to time out for hitting my computer.
* "read" a counting book to Maddie.
* watched a Mickey Mouse story/video thing on the computer.
* invented a game that involves jumping out at Maddie to make her laugh.
* demanded I read six different Pooh Bear mini-books. Twice.
* made artworks from markers and foam stickers.
* made more art using ink and rubber stamps. Unfortunately, most of the art was on his clothes.
* helped Mommy spray the stain remover on his clothes.
* helped Mommy wash and dry his clothes.
* used a butter knife to chop up some cheese to go with lunch.
...and it's not even nap time yet.

Fun With the Munchkins
Caleb loves PlayDoh. We have a great time with it. Maddie likes to watch, but she gets mad after a while because we won't let her have any.
She starts doing that angry babbling thing that babies do and waving her little fists. It's cute.
She's having fun figuring out all of the things she can do. She really likes rolling around on the floor and eating her feet.
Mmm. That's some good foot.

So lately I've been having a lot of fun sewing. My latest project has been a cute apron pattern. Here's one that I love. The fabrics are so cute. It was a gift, but I liked it so much that I went back for more of the fabric for myself. Unfortunately, they were out. :-( Oh well. There will always be more cute fabric out there.
Thank goodness for the exersaucer. It's one of the greatest inventions ever. It's a happy little place for my happy little girl to spend some time while I do dishes.

Doesn't she look cute in yellow?
Caleb is on a super yogurt kick lately. We found some kiddie sized ones that have Dora on them. They're a hit.

Cheap Entertainment
Maddie was getting fussy. It was a little too early for bed, so I had her sitting in her crib playing.
Caleb decided to join the party.
He made her laugh so hard that she (repeatedly) fell down...
And rolled over.... and held her arms up for me to sit her back up.
It became a great game.
We played for about twenty minutes.
You may be asking yourself what could be so amusing that a baby would be entertained for that long. Well, all it takes is an energetic Caleb jumping on a chair and making silly noises.

So You May Be Wondering Where We've Been...
The short answer is, HERE! The long answer involves everyone being very sick except for Josh. Thankfully Maddie is feeling much better. We had a few very hard days (and harder nights). She was only sleeping if I was holding her... even Josh wouldn't do... and she stopped eating for about two days. We thought for a while we were going to end up in the hospital to get her IV fluids. Her pediatrician and her daddy are still not a hundred percent sure what she had. It looked at first like chicken pox, but now we're thinking hand, foot, and mouth. Either way, she had an atypical presentation of symptoms. Now she's back to her happy, sunny self. Her little spots are still there, but they're fading. Caleb and I were also sick, but luckily not as bad. As of today, I'm the only one still feeling under the weather, but it's nothing like it was.
Here are my two little sickies. This made me smile. We were all sitting in our pj's on the bed reading, and Caleb decided to "read" the book to Maddie. He's got it memorized well enough that he did a pretty good job until he got mad at her for messing up the little counting beads at the top. :-)
Here's Madeline feeling better. She's already wrestled one sock off, and she's going for the other one. Rest assured she managed to pull it off shortly after the photo was taken. She chewed on it in triumph.
I'm not sure how it started, but any time you have a camera around Caleb he says "cheese" and puts his hands in front of his face. I'll have to figure out what on earth he's doing...
