Hello From the Park!

The weather was so nice this morning that the kids and I went to the park with Grandma. Caleb was his independent self... running to the benches and playing on the equipment.
Maddie played with the grass. It's apparently quite fascinating.

Have a great day!

Poor Baby

Madeline is growing up so fast. She's learned how to sit up and crawl around her crib lately, and this is the second day in a row I found her like this during nap. She's fallen asleep sitting up and just slumped over forward. See her little legs sticking out? It looks so uncomfortable that I had to straighten her out. Last night (in the wee hours of the morning... somewhere around 2:00 a.m.) I heard her babbling. I went in to check on her and she was standing up.... just as proud as she could be. It's the first time I've seen her pull up inside her crib. She's just never figured it out before. So naturally, she was practicing this new skill in the early predawn hours. Ah... to be so flexible that you could just fall asleep like this.

Developmental Explosions

This past week Madeline has learned to crawl, wave hi, and started cutting her top two front teeth. She's now officially into everything. Her favorite goal is the entertainment system. If she can catch it with the doors open she tries to pull everything out.
And she's started pulling out her hair clips and trying to eat them. This means that a majority of the time she looks like this... a shaggy mess. :-)

Have a development-tastic day!

The Big Boy Bed

Josh got off work early yesterday, so off we went in search of a big boy bed. Caleb was excited. It took a few hours running to different stores, but we finally found one we all agreed on. Caleb picked out these car sheets at Target. I really liked the set, so we got it. Caleb was in a bit of shock that I actually let him put something in the basket that he grabbed off a shelf. Normally he gets in trouble for that sort of thing. Hehehe.
Here's the closeup of the car pattern. It's a little retro and very cute. Now all I need to do is get some frames for the pictures that still need to go on the wall. Once we get some decorations up his room will be pretty much finished. We've only lived here for a year and a half or so. It'll be nice to have at least one room finished.

If you're wondering about him falling out of bed... don't worry. If you look in the picture you can see his old crib mattress shoved under the bed. When he goes to bed we just pull the mattress out to make a landing pad. Last night he actually slept in there just fine. He's getting so big. :-)

Cruisin' in the Walker

If you've had a baby in recent years you know that they don't make walkers like they used to. They're such a safety risk (if you don't watch your child) that they're all stationary now (because apparently people are incapable of watching their children). Maddie has a stationary play thing... the exersaucer. It was great until she had a taste of freedom... ah... sweet freedom... the walker. Grammie found one somewhere. We used to plop Madeline in it whenever we were trying to get food ready, but one day she discovered that it moved. She hasn't looked back. The day after she figured out how to make it move, I plopped her in the exersaucer. She pitched a fit. No matter how much she marched her feet and threw her weight forward it just wasn't moving. The poor exersaucer. It's been packed away, and we stole the walker from Grammie's house. Sorry Grammie! Now she's free... and she's dangerous. Let me tell you; it really hurts when she's going full tilt and that plastic bumper hits that spot on the back of your ankle. You learn quickly to take evasive action. But look how happy she looks. :-)
On a completely different note, Caleb is getting so very big. He's been sleeping in his toddler bed since he was around 20 months old. Lately he's been asking for a big boy bed. Sniff. Tear. Okay... I'm better now. Josh always does the evening bedtime routine. It culminates with cuddling in bed and reading. Caleb has decided that they don't both fit in his bed, (which is true) and he wants a big bed so Daddy can fit. I think it's incredibly sweet. We'll be shopping for a bed just as soon as Josh has a day off. I think Josh is looking forward to it as much as Caleb is.

Have a walker-tastic, getting-too-big-too-fast day!

Mmm... spaghetti

Please ignore the boy-themed bib. I know she should probably have a girly one, but I can't bring myself to spend the money when all of Caleb's old ones are still perfectly fine.
I don't know if you remember, but a while back I made Madeline a green dress. It was cute as a dress, but I think I actually like it better as a top. Here she is wearing it with some shorts.

And check out her crazy hair! It's getting long. It's still curly at the ends, but the top is getting straighter.

Have a Maddie-tastic day!

Back to School Bash

Last night was the back to school bash for church. They reserved the entire pool area at Creekmore Park. Caleb was so excited to swim that he didn't eat a thing... despite the stacks and stacks of pizza and the piles of cookies. It's funny to remember last year. He wouldn't go two feet away from Josh in the water. He was a little intimidated. Not this year! He was a little fish.

Maddie got in on the action, too. She absolutely LOVED the water. She kicked and splashed and had a great time.

When Josh got tired of walking her around, he swapped Grammie for the camera.

It was a lot of fun!

We're Still Here

I know I haven't been posting much lately. It's been too hot. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. :-) Anyway, there hasn't been much going on. Maddie had her nine month check up. She's doing great. Caleb has learned where the nurses at the clinic keep their stickers... which means he's doing great. On a totally different note, Josh entered a couple of those pictures I posted in the Kutest Kidz contest that channel 5 and Bedford's is doing. Wish us luck. The grand prize is a new camera... which we could really use. Anyway, I'll try to get my camera out today and get you some new kid pictures posted on here.
