A Maddie Moment

Hey! Check out this piano thingy. I'd better test drive it before I buy. This is pretty fun. When I push the keys it makes noise and lights flash on and off.
And these buttons up here play songs... I think I like this.

Yep.... it even tastes good. That's a very important consideration.

I think I'll take it! Sold! But wait... what's that I see over there?

I found a better toy. It has an almost supernatural, universal appeal. I just can't describe it.

And it tastes good too!

A Tale of Two Puppies

Have you met Puppy II?

Not to be confused with THE Puppy.
It's really quite sweet. Madeline loves her Puppy. It has a light up heart that blinks while music plays. She talks to it. She tries to eat it. (Which in baby language means she loves it... or that she's hungry... or that she's bored... well... you get the idea. Just take my word for it:

it's love.)

On the other hand, Caleb thinks that both Puppies should belong to him. Every few days he tries to claim hers again... just to see what I say. Although you should see the chaos that breaks loose if Maddie tries to play with HIS Puppy.

It's simply not acceptable.

Luckily for us the Puppies have different colored shirts. It makes identification easy and just a bit educational... because didn't you know that education was the point of today's post?

Cuteness

I have to admit that it's really hard to get a nice picture of these two together. Caleb doesn't like having his picture taken right now. You have to surprise him... which is hard to do when you're trying to get them both. Most of the time he just yells "no" and runs. He tells me to take pictures of Maddie instead. This one was pretty darn cute, though. Maddie doesn't mind. She hams it up for the camera.

She'll be walking before we know it. Sniff. Tear. Excuse me a moment...

The Toy Box

Okay, so remember how I recently posted pictures of Madeline covered in toys? Caleb has dumped the toy box out on her so many times she seems to have developed a taste for it. Imagine how hard I was laughing as she dumped out the entire box on top of herself and then proceeded to play with the box!

Baby

Okay, so I'm pretty sure this isn't what Aunt Sarah had in mind when she bought Madeline a Cabbage Patch doll. We've had the doll out before, but this time Caleb found the bottle and baby powder that goes with it. We must have spent half an hour changing the baby's diaper over and over. He wanted to use real wipes. It was incredibly cute. He kept telling the doll that it was a sweet baby."Don't cry, baby. Don't cry. Here's your bottle. Yummy, yummy."
Then he decided that the baby needed a bath. He drug out Maddie's tub and went to work. We gathered towels and wash cloths, but I had to draw the line at real water. We were in the living room, and I just wasn't up for that kind of mess at the time.

I have to say that he does very well with the baby. It was really sweet watching him copy the way I treat Madeline. Of course in the end we may need to buy another doll, but it's totally worth it. :-)

A Yummy Project

So this weekend we had a little get together with some of Josh's work people. I brought a dessert. Here's the before:

And after:

They're called cupcake bites. I forgot to take a picture of the entire group, so you'll just have to imagine a tray full of these. Some were red and some pink. The recipe is from Bakerella. They turned out okay. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. The cuteness factor is there, but I wasn't crazy about the taste and consistency. I've got plans to experiment, though. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

Playing Together

It's very cute when Caleb decides to play with Madeline. I had her sitting on the floor playing with a couple of toys, but apparently it wasn't enough. Caleb came along and emptied the toy box out ON TOP OF Maddie. She didn't mind. She just giggled and played with whatever her little fists grabbed. Caleb sat next to her and very calmly read a book to her.
